How to Create Flashcards for Medical Students Using Artificial Intelligence

Discover how to generate great flashcards from your own study materials in seconds using artificial intelligence in Medii AI.

·by Hubert Wójcik

Who doesn't love flashcards? Most of us students, especially in medicine or dentistry, use them every day during study sessions. How many times can you read the same material? Flashcards are a kind of escape for me. The problem is that I usually don't have four hours to open Quizlet and create a new set.

The Problem: Too Much Material, Too Little Time

I can't generate flashcards for every subject. On top of that, for each subject I have about 5 different resources - PDFs, presentations, lecture scripts. There's no way to manage it all. But I want flashcards, because when you study from a textbook, your brain processes text passively. You feel like you understand it, but come exam time, the information has somehow slipped away. Flashcards force something completely different - active recall - actively retrieving knowledge from memory. I won't pretend otherwise: they've helped me through many exams.

Why Not Just Ask ChatGPT?

ChatGPT handles some medical questions well and summarizes documents. The problem is that those summaries or flashcards are so generic they won't be of any use on an exam. A waste of time. Large AI models:

  1. Have limited knowledge of what medical school in Poland actually looks like. They don't know how difficult exam questions are, or even what style they're asked in.
  2. Can hallucinate (make things up), even when you upload your own document. Plus, for example, Gemini doesn't allow uploads larger than 100 MB. What textbook is smaller than that?
  3. They'll generate flashcards for you, but then you have to copy, paste, and so on. Why not just start studying?

Alright, so what now?

Medii Generates Flashcards From Your Materials

Medii was born from a simple observation: medical students have even less time to study, because so much of their time goes into preparing to study.

The workflow is simple. You upload your material: a PDF from a textbook, lecture slides, scanned notes. Medii processes the document, understands its structure, and generates flashcards tailored to the content. You choose whether to base them on summaries or highlights, how many pages, how many flashcards, what difficulty level → highly personalized for medical studies. You can still edit, add, and remove them afterward.

Beyond flashcards, Medii also gives you a script distilled from the book — so you read, say, 300 pages of real knowledge instead of a 500-page textbook — a chatbot that searches your materials like that one brilliant friend from your year, and an exam generator for when flashcards start to feel repetitive.

Because how many times can you read the same thing? It's time to actually start learning.
